Chile launches copper fiber socks

EFE, Santiago, March 23rd: Chile's national copper company today introduced to the market copper fiber socks that can prevent foot problems. It was these socks that were worn by 33 miners rescued nearly a hundred days underground in the northern Chilean copper accident last year.

The National Copper Company issued an announcement that a number of university studies showed that copper ions added to the yarn can create a natural protected area, eliminating 99% of bacteria and fungi, thus preventing foot odor and skin infections. It is estimated that 18% of the world’s population suffers from fungal-induced foot problems. When copper fiber comes into contact with fungi, bacteria and viruses, it can immediately exert its protective effect, and its anti-microbial effect will not disappear due to being made into textile fabrics and washing.

In order to prove the efficacy of the product, today's copper fiber socks launched a video on the market. Mario Sepulveda, the most witty and humorous of the 33 miners, said in the video: “I was most grateful for being trapped in mines. The thing was a copper fiber sock. My feet were in a very humid environment at the time, but the copper fiber socks left the feet unblemished."

After two years of research, scientists discovered that direct contact is the only way for copper to have an ideal effect on damaged skin, so they are committed to developing flexible, durable, washable, and affordable copper fibers.

Now through the joint development of national copper companies, textile companies and hosiery factories, copper fiber socks have been patented and put on the market. The companies also plan to introduce copper fiber male underwear, towels and shirts as soon as possible.
