Is ice silk nobler than flax?

Really selling but fake?

Linen cushion products, from the beginning of their birth to today, there is no break in the "true and false" discussion. The China Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Bureau once organized a survey of linen cushions, and the survey results are not optimistic. Some brands have marked linen cushions with 100% linen content, but none of the linen is included.

“The development speed of imitating linen fiber is surprising. Even experts are not sure whether it is true or false when buying linen cushions,” said a flax professional. However, the natural moisture absorption and breathability of flax is not easily imitated. Therefore, when the cushions are used, the imitation linen does not absorb moisture and is not airtight.

This is only one aspect. People who have bought real linen cushions may not necessarily have a good impression of linen. “The fact that flax has the characteristics of sweat absorption, good air permeability and harmlessness to the human body is becoming more and more popular among consumers. At the same time, the linen cushion also has a very significant disadvantage: it has a high shrinkage rate after absorbing moisture and needs regular cleaning and ironing. According to the current development level of the flax textile industry, the problem of excessive shrinkage of flax can be solved in the finishing stage, but the removal of folds from pure flax is a problem. The folds of linen are seen as a sign of "naturalness" in European countries and the United States, and they need to take care of ironing to give extra points to their noble status. In China, in order to facilitate consumer care, many companies choose to use linen and cotton blends to improve the condition of flax fibers.

“The purchase of linen cushions is mainly to buy its moisture-absorbing and breathable function. If blended with cotton and then clearly labeled, there is no harm in improving the understanding of linen in people's consumption, which will help us cultivate the domestic flax consumer market.” China Ma Dong Chunxing, secretary general of the Textile Industry Association, told the author. The higher price of linen raw materials, the blending can not only improve the function of the linen cushion, but also reduce the raw material cost of the linen cushion, and increase the weight of the fake linen products sold for real linen products.

The gold content of the city of linen cushions refers to the place of production of linen cushions. In the past, each city and county of Heilongjiang province planted flax, and Lanxi was a major producer of flax raw materials. However, in recent years, due to the impact of the international flax market and the degradation of seeds, the enthusiasm of farmers for planting hemp is not high. The planting area of ​​flax in Heilongjiang Province has been shrinking year by year, and Lanxi flax has also been significantly reduced. According to reports, over 90% of China's flax raw materials come from imports, and domestic flax raw materials account for less than 10%. To remove the flax yields in Xinjiang and Yunnan, the entire flax yield in Heilongjiang is less than 5% of China's flax processing volume, and the output of Lanxi flax is even more subtle.

The corresponding reduction in the output of flax and flax is that the scale of flax processing has increased year by year. These linen car cushion companies have only begun to take shape and are not enough to support the scale of the linen ordering conference. Some chemical fiber cushion companies naturally join them, and even act as the main force. Every November, Lanxi will hold a linen ordering meeting. At the annual ordering conference, there are hundreds of car cushion companies, but only a few dozen manufacturers of pure linen cushions. Chemical fiber cushion is the main product of these ordering conferences.

"When a trade fair is under the banner of linen and the main force is chemical fiber, the organizer has found a promotional entry point that is conducive to the development of investment promotion, but it may endanger the healthy development of an industry." The person in charge of the linen company who disclosed the name said.

Local industry leaders also have their own frustration. There is always a need to hold a linen cushion trade fair. The name "linen" is convenient and practical. The hosting of the linen ordering conference will also promote the development of the local flax economy. Obviously these results will not be achieved with other names.

Because it involves all interests, but also because the linen cushion industry is really not a big industry, so the time to organize a real sense of the linen cushion exhibition is not ripe. Therefore, letting linen cushions deepen consumers' sense of high-end consumption, we still need to go a long way. On this road, the arduousness of the task of counterfeiting and balancing the interests of all parties we face is far beyond our imagination.
