考古学家啤酒罐,上千颗金银珠宝

Archaeologists found a 3,100-year-old beer can in Israel with no traces of alcohol, but filled with dozens of gold and silver jewellery and 1,300 gold and silver beads. Recently, researchers published some discoveries about this artifact at the annual meeting of the American Institute of Oriental Studies in Boston.

After checking, the jar contains 35 pieces of silver, including earrings, rings and a bracelet, and about 1,300 gold and silver alloy beads, which have probably been embedded in a beautiful necklace. There are also 10 other jewels, including a pair of exquisite basket-shaped earrings, each with long-legged birds.

Researcher EranArie's latest research shows that the jar is likely to belong to a wealthy local family. They hid it in the corner of the yard and covered it with a bowl to cover it. And this family may have contact with the local government because it was found near the former palace.

It's unclear why this family would leave expensive property there, but the discovery does reveal how wealthy people hoard their valuables in an era when wealth is more dependent on metal products than money.
